Overview

Tacos & Beer on Main in Montrose, Colorado, stands out as a vibrant Mexican eatery that promises a genuinely satisfying experience for taco lovers and casual diners alike. Located on E Main Street, this spot offers a bustling atmosphere where authentic flavors meet the everyday charm of a local hangout. Combining traditional Mexican culinary staples with a focus on tacos and accompanying beers, the restaurant caters to a diverse clientele, from families and friends to solo lunch-goers.

The true highlight is the thoughtfully crafted taco selection, especially the Asada and Pastor styles, celebrated for their bold seasoning and tender meats. These tacos exemplify the heart of Mexican street food culture, with a perfect balance of freshness and spice. The Martin’s specials, such as Carne Asada and Pollo Asado, provide hearty alternatives for those seeking full-plate meals without compromising on authenticity.

Beyond tacos, the botanas offer a rich variety of starters and shareable dishes that elevate the dining experience. Items like quesadillas, loaded nachos, and camarones empanizados bring a flavorful depth, while the salsa bar—despite receiving mixed reviews on some sauces—remains a beloved feature that adds personalization and zest to every bite. Notably, the creamy habanero sauce, though spicy, could benefit from more nuanced flavor, whereas the red salsa consistently delights patrons.

The space itself tells a story of casual openness, though some visitors note that the segmented, low-ceiling layout can create a somewhat noisy environment during peak hours. Parking, as is common in bustling local spots, can be a challenge, but it doesn't detract from the overall positive dining encounter.

Customer testimonials affirm the restaurant’s strengths: margaritas that hit the mark, attentive service, and dishes that keep guests coming back. The emphasis on hearty, cheesy fillings and fresh ingredients appeals to both meat lovers and vegetarians, with options like veggie fajitas and burritos thoughtfully included for balance.

For those seeking a down-to-earth yet authentic Mexican culinary experience in Montrose, Tacos & Beer on Main offers a memorable blend of traditional tastes, lively atmosphere, and a menu that invites exploration beyond the ordinary taco joint.

I stopped by Tacos & Beer. I didn't have either Tacos or Beer. Maybe next time. I had the combination plate and got the Cimie conga and ChieReano, and it was awesome. Especially the Chimi. I will definitely be back and try the Tacos & Beer. Thank you for lunch.

Tacos and Beers second location in Montrose offers the same menu as their Ox Bow Crossing location but doesn't have the same atmosphere. Low dceilings and broken up rooms, it can get pretty loud and parking is a bit of a chore when it gets busy. The food is great though, same as always.

Great tacos, especially the Al pastor! The sauces at the sauce bar were watery and not very flavorful. Especially the creamy habanero, it is just hot without good flavor. But the red salsa was excellent and we really enjoyed it!

Food was great at a a reasonable price. Salsa bar was impressive. Full bar. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Place was surprisingly packed for a late Sunday lunch. Place looks smaller from the outside but quite big inside. Will definitely be back.

Driving 4hrs from Great Sand Dunes NP and after checking into our hotel, we couldn't have picked a better spot for dinner. I'd have to admit that we were skeptical about tacos in Montrose but this place blew our minds! The pastor and asada were great but the crispy tripas tacos were amazing! We're stopping by again after our visit to Black Canyon of Gunn. NP! I we had this restaurant in Los Angeles.
